Description
Port Charlotte 10 Years Old Heavily Peated is an authentic Islay single malt whisky that reflects the characteristic DNA of the famous whisky island in every aspect. Sourced entirely from Islay, it combines traditional craftsmanship with a deep, multi-layered aroma. The Scottish barley used comes from the Inverness region and is heavily peated, giving the whisky its distinctive smoky character with 40 ppm (phenol content).
It is matured for ten years in a sophisticated combination of different cask types. 65 per cent is stored in first-fill American whisky casks, which impart sweet notes of vanilla and caramel. 10 per cent is matured in second-fill American whisky casks, adding gentle woody accents and a subtle spiciness. 25 per cent is finished in second-fill French wine casks, which impart additional fruity and spicy nuances to the whisky. This cask composition gives Port Charlotte 10 a unique balance between robust smoke, sweet vanilla and fruity notes, and a delicate oak spiciness.
Its alcohol content of 50% ABV ensures impressive intensity, whilst its smooth texture and complex flavour profile create a perfect harmony between power and elegance. The character of this whisky is defined by its peaty strength, combined with a light sea breeze and subtle fruity accents from the wine casks.
This exceptional Islay single malt is not only a real treat for fans of peaty whiskies, but also a prime example of the craftsmanship of the Bruichladdich Distillery. Its multi-layered aroma, combined with its intense smokiness and careful cask maturation, makes it a must-have for discerning connoisseurs and collectors of high-quality whiskies.
