After a few summer nights spent enjoying gin and tonics, a young couple from Austria realised their dream and began producing their own gin. Distillation takes place in a wood-fired copper still that has been in use for generations. An encounter with what they thought was a blue snake inspired the idea of creating something mysterious – a natural colour change in the gin.

Munakra Dry Gin is made from 16 botanicals, all 100 per cent natural. These include juniper berries, hibiscus flowers, rose petals, elderflower, red grapes, rosehips and lemons.

The gin’s original colour is a purplish pink, but it changes colour upon contact with an acid, such as tonic water. The colour change from brilliant white to deep red is 100 per cent natural and is due to infusion with the unique cotton rose blossom.

This dry gin is bottled by hand in small batches in the heart of Vienna, the Austrian capital.
