Description
Botran ROAJÚ Ron de Guatemala Rum 40% is a complex Solera-aged rum from Guatemala, which blends rum components aged for between 8 and 20 years. Botran is synonymous with a distinctive Guatemalan style, in which ageing in different types of casks plays a central role. For the Botran ROAJÚ, ex-American whisky casks are used, along with medium-toasted ex-American whisky casks, as well as Oloroso sherry, Tawny port and Ribera del Duero wine casks. This exceptionally wide selection of casks lends the rum a multi-layered profile of dark fruit, wood, sweetness and spice. Plums and black cherries in particular blend with toasted oak, caramel and subtle spicy notes.
With an alcohol content of 40 per cent, Botran ROAJÚ rum is powerful, yet at the same time harmonious and approachable. The interplay of Solera ageing and five different cask types creates a striking depth, in which dark fruits, toffee and roasted coffee are just as present as cinnamon, pepper and caramelised wood notes. The 0.7-litre bottle with a gift box emphasises the premium quality of this bottling and makes it an attractive choice for lovers of aged rums from Guatemala. Anyone looking for a Botran rum with influences from sherry, port and wine casks will find here a particularly multi-faceted edition with an intense cask character and a long-lasting sweetness.
