The Lochlea Distillery is an independent single malt distillery situated on Lochlea Farm in Ayrshire, near Glasgow in the Scottish Lowlands. The distillery began operations in August 2018. John Campbell, the former manager of the Laphroaig Distillery, runs this family-run business.

The distillery places great emphasis on the quality of its ingredients. The barley used to produce the single malt whisky is grown in the distillery’s own fields and harvested by hand. The water comes from limestone springs beneath the distillery, ensuring full traceability of the raw materials.

This whisky creation pays homage to autumn and the moment when the farmland comes to rest after the harvest. The whisky was matured in a blend of Oloroso (45 per cent) and Pedro Ximénez sherry (55 per cent) casks. This combination lends the whisky sweet and spicy notes.

It is bottled without chill filtration and without the addition of colourings, to preserve the whisky’s natural purity and colour. This underlines the philosophy of Lochlea Distillery, which is committed to authenticity and naturalness.

The distillery recommends savouring this whisky slowly and sipping it, particularly as the dark, autumnal nights draw nearer.
