With an alcohol content of 46% ABV and a unique maturation process in Côte Rôtie wine casks from the Rhône Valley, this single malt unfolds a fascinating combination of smoky intensity and fruity elegance.
Ardbeg looks back on a long tradition: whisky has been distilled here unofficially since 1794, before the distillery was officially founded by John McDougall in 1815. The name ‘Ardbeg’ comes from Gaelic and means ‘little hill’ – a reference to its location on the south coast of Islay, a region renowned for its heavily peated and maritime-influenced whiskies.
The Côte Rôtie wine casks lend this Ardbeg a refined depth and a fruity dimension that harmonises superbly with the characteristic peaty smoke. The interplay of sweet, spicy and smoky notes makes it an extraordinary tasting experience.
