Rum and honey are a particularly prized combination in the Canary Islands.

The Aldea distillery on La Palma grows sugar cane to produce its smooth and sweet honey rum, without the use of artificial fertilisers or pesticides.

Following an initial ageing period of six months on the island, the rum was collected in 2022 by the sailing freighter Tres Hombres and transported in Calvados casks. Six months later, the ship reached Amsterdam, and during the crossing the rum had time to develop a distinctive finish that reflects the characteristic ‘Tres Hombres’ style. The constant motion of the ship at sea intensified the rum’s interaction with the Calvados casks, resulting in a more pronounced flavour and a memorable aftertaste.

The bottle labels feature motifs of the Tres Hombres and their adventurous voyages. The bottles are closed with natural corks and sealed with beeswax.

This wax is enriched with colour pigments ground from natural materials in a traditional windmill in Zaandam, giving the bottles an authentic and environmentally friendly finish.
