Edition 61, produced by the ALDEA Distillery in the Canary Islands, is a young rum made from the 2022 sugarcane harvest. After distillation, the rum was transferred by the Tres Hombres from steel tanks into ex-Armagnac and ex-Cognac casks, which were then stored in the ship’s hold for transport.

The sea voyage lasted around six months, with stops in the Caribbean and the return journey, before the spiced rum was bottled in July 2023 with an alcohol content of 45 per cent. Honey from La Palma was also added to the rum, making it a ‘Ron Miel’, a typical Canarian speciality. The spiced rum is characterised by its distinctive honey notes, which are complemented by the subtle finish from the grape brandy casks, enhancing its depth of flavour and complexity.

The bottle labels feature motifs of the Tres Hombres and their adventurous voyages. The bottles are closed with natural corks and sealed with beeswax.

This wax is enriched with colour pigments ground from natural materials in a traditional windmill in Zaandam, giving the bottles an authentic and environmentally friendly finish.

A total of 982 bottles were produced.
