Since its foundation in 1917, the Kaikyo Distillery has been dedicated to whisky production and has developed a profound expertise that is reflected in the quality of its products. Although Master Distiller Kimio Yonezawa has drawn inspiration from the Scottish tradition, he has established his own distinctive style.

Hatozaki 12 Years Small Batch is a Japanese single malt whisky that takes its name from the historic Hatozaki Lighthouse. Located near the Kaikyo Distillery, this lighthouse has served as a navigational aid for seafarers for over four centuries and symbolises the blend of tradition and openness that also characterises Hatozaki Whisky.

The production process involves meticulous steps, from the construction of modern stills through to twelve years’ ageing in American oak casks, followed by a final six months’ maturation in casks that previously contained umeshu, a Japanese plum liqueur. Hatozaki 12 Years Small Batch is an unpeated single malt whisky, characterised by a harmonious flavour profile and delicate floral notes, complemented by deep barley aromas.
