In 1975, Gérard Bertrand began harvesting grapes at the Château de Villemajou in the Corbières, where he discovered his passion for wine. Over the course of twelve years, he honed his skills alongside his father, Georges Bertrand, until the fourth generation eventually carried on the family legacy. Following the tragic death of his father in 1987, Gérard Bertrand took over the family business at the Domaine de Villemajou and founded the Gérard Bertrand wine company. The Gérard Bertrand Group comprises 16 vineyards and 16 châteaux along the Mediterranean coast of France, covering a total of 850 hectares. Some of the hand-harvested grapes mature in 225-litre Bordeaux barrels, whilst the rest are stored in stainless steel tanks.

Gérard Bertrand Le Chouchou is a contemporary wine that captivates with its delicate, light and fresh character, offering an attractive alternative to red wine. With its low alcohol content and a serving temperature that highlights the freshness of its aromas, it is ideal for special moments with friends.

The grapes for Le Chouchou come from the high-altitude terroirs of the Cévennes, where they are organically grown and harvested early in the morning to ensure optimal conditions. The main grape variety, Grenache, is macerated in vats for one day to extract colour and fruity aromas without tannins. The cuvée is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature, followed by malolactic fermentation. After three months’ ageing in barrels, the wine is bottled and sealed with a screw cap.
