The Glen Moray Distillery, which has been based in Elgin since the 19th century, produces single malt Scotch whisky in Scotland’s most famous whisky region, Speyside. A special addition to its range is the Glen Moray Elgin Classic Peated, a smoky version of the classic Speyside whisky. This whisky combines smoky intensity with the typical smoothness of Speyside whiskies, making it an interesting introduction to the category of peated whiskies.

In the production process, the barley is first – unusually – dried in a peat-fired kiln, which imparts a slight smoky flavour. This peated barley is then distilled alongside traditionally malted barley, resulting in a spirit with distinct notes of campfire. The subsequent maturation process in American oak casks imparts additional notes of vanilla and oak to the whisky.

The Glen Moray Elgin Classic Peated thus offers a complex flavour profile that appeals to both connoisseurs and newcomers to the world of peated whiskies.
