The Fuji Gotemba Distillery, which began production in November 1973, was established as a joint venture between Kirin, Seagram and Chivas Brothers. Whilst the distillery produces both malt and grain whisky, every stage of whisky production – from fermentation to bottling – takes place on site. After Kirin took full control in 2002 following the dissolution of Seagram and renamed the distillery Kirin Distillery, the company began to focus more strongly on its connection to Mount Fuji, which led to the launch of its first single malt in 2004.

Kirin Fuji Whisky is a high-quality grain whisky characterised by a remarkable variety of aromas and an interesting flavour profile. It offers good value for money and has been well received by consumers looking for an affordable Japanese whisky.

In accordance with the guidelines established in February 2021 by the Japan Spirits and Liqueur Makers Association, this whisky meets the criteria to be classified as a genuine Japanese whisky. This means that the entire production process – from fermentation through to distillation and bottling – took place in Japan.
