The Demerara Distillery in Guyana has been deeply rooted in the history of sugar and rum production since the 17th century. It is renowned worldwide for the wooden pot still method and the high-quality rums produced using this process.

A particular highlight is the rum distilled in 2005 from the rare Versailles Single Wooden Pot Still, the last operating still of its kind in the world. Following distillation, the rum was first matured for eight years in ex-American bourbon casks, before undergoing a further eight years of special cask finishing in French oak casks that had previously held Madeira Dry sweet wines.

These selected casks originate from the island of Madeira and lend the rum its distinctive character. The careful selection and ageing ensure a complex and unmistakable tasting experience that impressively reflects the long tradition and expertise of the Demerara Distillery.
