The Demerara Distillery in Guyana has been deeply rooted in the history of sugar and rum production since the 17th century. It is renowned worldwide for the wooden pot still method and the high-quality rums produced using this process.

A particular highlight is the rum distilled in 2005 from the rare Versailles Single Wooden Pot Still, the last operational still of its kind in the world. Following distillation, the rum was initially matured for eight years in ex-American bourbon casks, before undergoing a further eight years of special cask finishing in French oak casks that had previously held Sauternes sweet wines.

This careful selection and ageing process ensures a complex and distinctive taste experience that impressively reflects the long tradition and expertise of the Demerara Distillery.
