In 1790, 25-year-old George Sandeman, the son of a wealthy Scottish carpenter, asked his father for a loan of 300 pounds. His aim was to set up as a wine merchant in London. George Sandeman subsequently founded the company Sandeman, which later became one of the world’s leading suppliers of port and sherry.

From the very beginning, Sandeman specialised in the production and trade of port and sherry. Unlike today, he did not conduct his business from his own offices, but from Tom’s Coffee House on Birchin Lane in London. At that time, business deals were often concluded on the basis of a ‘gentleman’s word’. George Sandeman quickly gained an excellent reputation, which continues to characterise the Sandeman company to this day.

Sandeman Sherry Armada Superior Cream is a high-quality Oloroso sherry. Careful ageing for more than ten years in the old Solera system gives it its complexity and roundness. A small amount of full-bodied Pedro Ximénez sherry, made from sun-dried grapes, is added to achieve a rich and complex blend.
