The Tomintoul Distillery, situated in the Scottish Highlands within the Cairngorms National Park and named after the nearby village of Tomintoul, opened its doors in 1964 and is now owned by Angus Dundee Distillers.

Situated at an altitude of 370 metres above sea level, Tomintoul is Scotland’s second-highest distillery, surpassed only by the Braeval Distillery, which was founded in 1973. Although the majority of the 3.2 million litres of spirit produced annually is exported to the United States for use in blends, Tomintoul regularly releases special single-cask bottlings.

The Tomintoul Madeira Cask Finish is a smooth and finely balanced single malt whisky that is initially matured in American bourbon oak casks. It is then finished for two years in fortified wine casks from the Portuguese island of Madeira, which gives it its unique depth and complexity. This special secondary maturation imparts intense aromas of juicy fruit, delicate oatmeal biscuits and spiced cake, which blend harmoniously to create a well-rounded tasting experience.
