The Tomintoul Distillery, situated in the Scottish Highlands within the Cairngorms National Park and named after the nearby village of Tomintoul, opened its doors in 1964 and is now owned by Angus Dundee Distillers.

Situated at an altitude of 370 metres above sea level, Tomintoul is Scotland’s second-highest distillery, surpassed only by the Braeval Distillery, which was founded in 1973. Although the majority of the 3.2 million litres of spirit produced annually is exported to the United States for use in blends, Tomintoul regularly releases special single-cask bottlings.

The Tomintoul Amarone Cask Finish is renowned for its smooth and approachable whiskies; it is first matured in classic American bourbon oak casks before being finished for a further two years in fine Amarone wine casks from Italy. This special secondary maturation lends it a harmonious balance, where fruity aromas meet gentle, warming spicy notes, creating a multi-layered taste experience.
