Description
The Arachon T.FX.T 2020 is an iconic red wine from Burgenland that embodies the very best of Austrian red wine-making. As a joint project by three renowned winemakers – Manfred Tement (South Styria), FX Pichler (Wachau) and Günter Triebaumer (Rust) – T.FX.T stands for uncompromising quality, precision and style. The name Arachon is derived from the old name of the village of Horitschon – one of the historically most significant wine-growing areas for Blaufränkisch in Burgenland.
The refined cuvée of the 2020 vintage consists of 80 % Blaufränkisch, 10 % Zweigelt, 5 % Merlot and 5 % Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes come from vines growing on mica schist, loam and loess soils – a soil mix that lends the wine complexity, depth and minerality. Following a careful hand-harvest, the wine is aged for 18 to 20 months in new 500-litre French oak barrels, during which time it develops its remarkable structure, balance and diversity of aromas. It is then bottled and sealed with natural cork – a clear statement of quality and ageing potential.
With an alcohol content of 13.5 % vol., the Arachon T.FX.T is always powerful yet never overpowering – a wine for discerning connoisseurs, offering ageing potential and depth.
Awards:
- 19/20 points from René Gabriel for the 2017 vintage
