O.P. Anderson Aquavit Original 40% vol. 1 l is Sweden’s oldest and most time-honoured aquavit – a true classic that has come to symbolise togetherness, enjoyment and living tradition ever since it was first created. Originally created in 1891 for the Gothenburg Exhibition, this aquavit was named by Carl August Anderson in honour of his father, Olof Peter Anderson. Olof Peter, born in 1797 in Västergötland, was a prominent entrepreneur, shipowner and proprietor of a liqueur factory, whose vision laid the foundations for a Swedish success story that continues to this day.


O.P. Anderson Original Aquavit is characterised by its classic blend of caraway, aniseed and fennel – the three spices that have since come to define Swedish aquavit culture. The harmonious combination of these ingredients, coupled with careful distillation and cask maturation, results in an aromatically complex, finely balanced aquavit with an unmistakable character. It is now produced at the modern O.P. Anderson Distillery in Sundsvall in northern Sweden, where traditional copper stills are combined with state-of-the-art distillation technology. The distillery follows a sustainable philosophy with the aim of achieving zero waste, whilst ensuring that the original recipe and traditional flavour remain unchanged.
