Description
The Gérard Bertrand La Forge 2021 is an impressive cuvée that embodies the centuries-old winemaking tradition of the Corbières region in southern France. This exceptional red wine is made from carefully selected Carignan and Syrah vines, some of which are an impressive 80 years old. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand to ensure they remain in the best possible condition and to guarantee exceptional quality. After harvesting, some of the grapes are aged in 225-litre French oak Bordeaux barrels, whilst the rest are matured in stainless steel tanks to achieve an optimal balance between fruit and structure.
The history of this wine is closely linked to the passion and craftsmanship of Gérard Bertrand. As early as 1975, he began harvesting grapes at the Château de Villemajou in the Corbières and, under the guidance of his father Georges Bertrand, developed a deep connection to winemaking. Following his father’s sudden death in 1987, Gérard Bertrand took over the management of the family estate and expanded his business into the renowned Gérard Bertrand Group. Today, his estate comprises 16 vineyards and châteaux along the Mediterranean coast of France, covering a total of 850 hectares of prime vineyard land.
The La Forge 2021 is a limited-edition wine, of which only 18,787 bottles were bottled – a true collector’s item for lovers of fine red wines.
