Description
The 50-hectare Alois Lageder winery is located in Margreid, South Tyrol, and is characterised by a close connection with nature and a strong awareness of sustainability, which is reflected both in life on the winery and in the quality of the wines. In addition, an interest in contemporary art is an integral part of the winery's philosophy. Synthetic chemical pesticides, insecticides and mineral fertilisers are consistently avoided; instead, Alois Lageder relies on preparations, homeopathic teas and compost as natural fertilisers.
The estate's estate wines showcase the diversity of South Tyrolean viticulture by emphasising the varied selection of grape varieties. Both white and red wines are vinified primarily from grapes from trusted winegrowers, selected for their specific varietal suitability in the estate's vineyards. The long-standing co-operation with these winegrowers makes it possible to achieve and share all quality goals.
Alois Lageder Lagrein is made from 100% Lagrein grapes grown in the vineyards of Bolzano, Ora and Margreid. The vines thrive on deep alluvial and calcareous soils, which offer optimal growing conditions. The malolactic fermentation takes place partly in stainless steel and partly in concrete tanks over a period of around 12 months. Mash fermentation is then carried out in stainless steel. After maturation, the wine is bottled and sealed with a natural cork.
The red wine has a drinking potential of around 6 years, during which its flavours develop harmoniously and offer a fascinating taste experience.
