After a few summer nights spent enjoying gin and tonics, a young couple from Austria realised their dream and began producing their own gin. Distillation takes place in a wood-fired copper still that has been in use for generations. An encounter with what was thought to be a blue snake led to the idea of creating something mysterious – a natural colour change in the gin.

Munakra Handcrafted Vienna Contemporary Gin Black is an extraordinary gin, based on a secret recipe and produced exclusively with 100 per cent natural, black botanicals. The main ingredients include blackcurrants, elderberries, black tea, black mallow blossoms, tonka beans and black goji berries. The recipe is complemented by ten secret ingredients, guarded by an alchemist, which lend this gin its fruity, fresh character.

Handcrafted in small batches and created under the rooftops of Austria’s capital, Munakra Gin Black captivates with its unique, mystical violet colour, which reflects the magic of the dark botanicals. A particular highlight of this gin is its magical transformation: upon contact with tonic water or acidic drinks, its colour changes and glows a vibrant red. The colour is 100 per cent natural and results from an infusion of colouring foods, which give the gin its unique character.

This gin is limited to 423 bottles.
