Description
The Kracher Winery is situated in the ‘Seewinkel’ region of Burgenland, Austria. Thanks to the warm, humid climate, evaporation from the lake and the evening mists, ideal conditions are created here for Botrytis cinerea, which forms the basis for outstanding sweet wines such as Beerenauslesen and Trockenbeerenauslesen. Gerhard Kracher continues to run the winery with the same dedication. In addition to its famous Trockenbeerenauslesen, the winery also produces Beerenauslesen, Auslesen, Eiswein and small quantities of dry white and red wine, and is regarded as one of Austria’s best-known wineries.
The Kracher Beerenauslese Cuvée is made from Welschriesling and Chardonnay grapes, which thrive on gravelly and sandy soils. The wine matures 80 per cent in stainless steel tanks and 20 per cent in large wooden barrels, and is aged for 16 months. With a Lager potential extending to 2036, this cuvée can develop its aromas to the fullest.
