Description
The Gérard Bertrand Hérésie Corbières Rouge 2020 is a red wine from the Languedoc with a strong character, combining history, heritage and Mediterranean flair in an impressive cuvée. Gérard Bertrand began his career in 1975 by taking part in the grape harvest at the Château de Villemajou in the Corbières, where he perfected his craft over the years alongside his father, Georges Bertrand. After taking over the family business in 1987, he founded what is now the Gérard Bertrand Group, which now comprises 16 vineyards and 16 châteaux along the French Mediterranean coast and cultivates around 850 hectares of vineyards. This experience and heritage also shape the style of Hérésie, which stands for tradition, depth and authenticity.
The Hérésie Corbières Rouge 2020 is an expressive cuvée made from Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. The grape varieties are vinified separately and traditionally to bring out their respective characters. Some of the hand-harvested grapes are aged in 225-litre Bordeaux barrels, whilst the remainder is matured in stainless-steel tanks. Syrah contributes dark fruit and spicy depth, Mourvèdre adds subtle notes of liquorice, whilst Grenache, following a short cold maceration, brings fruitiness, fullness and elegance. With an alcohol content of 14%, the 2020 vintage is powerful, harmonious and well-balanced. It is best enjoyed at a serving temperature of around 18 °C.
