Ron Piet rum is produced in San Miguelito, Panama, according to time-honoured tradition and reflects the art of classic rum production. According to legend, Ron Piet was once the parrot of a notorious pirate whose ship was sunk in battle.

Whilst everyone else perished, the brave bird survived by clinging to a cask bearing the inscription ‘Ron 10 Años Panama’. This cask drifted at sea for a long time until it was eventually washed up on the beach at Hamburg with the parrot on board. A pub owner found the barrel and the parrot, took the bird in and, inspired by the inscription, named him ‘Ron Piet’.

To produce the rum, the finest cane sugar is blended with yeast and high-quality water. It is aged for 10 years in former bourbon casks, which gives the rum its characteristic depth and complexity. Finally, the rum is bottled by hand in Hamburg, emphasising the connection between its Panamanian origins and the North German port city.
