The Antinori family has been involved in wine production for more than 600 years, beginning with Giovanni di Piero Antinori’s admission to the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri in 1385. This tradition, spanning 26 generations, has always been managed directly by the family, characterised by innovative decisions whilst maintaining a consistent respect for tradition and heritage.

Every vintage and every innovation is seen as an opportunity to enhance quality. Marquis Piero Antinori emphasises that the family’s historical roots form an integral part of their philosophy, yet have never been an obstacle to innovation.

Villa Rosso, first created in 1928 by Niccolò Antinori and later renamed Villa Antinori by Piero Antinori, is a significant red wine in the Antinori tradition. This wine blends grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Merlot and Syrah. It is aged for 12 months in barriques made of French, Hungarian and American oak, followed by eight months’ ageing after bottling. The wine thrives on sandy and calcareous soil and is sealed with a natural cork.
