The Macallan ART IS THE FLOWER is an artfully crafted Highland single malt Scotch whisky with an alcohol content of 50.4 per cent by volume, bottled in a high-quality 0.7-litre bottle with a matching gift box. This edition forms part of the renowned Harmony Collection and embodies the close connection between the craft of whisky-making and artistic expression, inspired by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his famous group of artists, ‘The Four’.

This special bottling has been matured exclusively in European sherry oak casks, expertly selected by The Macallan’s Whisky Maker from an extensive stock. The Tevasa oak casks used were seasoned with sherry and reflect Mackintosh’s time in Europe. They lend the whisky a complex interplay of aromas with notes of raisins, figs, polished oak, cherry blossom, almonds, oranges and sweet syrup.

The combination of first-fill and second-fill casks ensures depth and balance: Whilst the first-fill casks deliver robust, woody notes, the second-fill casks bring out more delicate, floral fruit nuances – including cherry, apple and orange, all fruits that bear their own blossoms. This aromatic blend is only possible through many years of maturation in high-quality casks. The chosen alcohol content of 50.4% deliberately emphasises the key aromas and is, at the same time, a tribute to Mackintosh.
