Description
The 2022 Tignanello from Marchesi Antinori is one of Italy’s most significant wines – an iconic Super Tuscan that has been regarded since the 1970s as a style-defining milestone in modern Italian winemaking. It comes from the renowned Tenuta Tignanello, situated in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, and was the first wine in the region to be aged in barriques using French grape varieties – a revolution that continues to set standards worldwide to this day.
The 2022 vintage is a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The grapes come exclusively from the single vineyard of the same name, ‘Tignanello’, which lies on calcareous soils with Albarese and Galestro rock – ideal conditions for dense, structured wines with good ageing potential. The wine is aged for 14–16 months in French and Hungarian barriques before being finally blended and left to mature further in the bottle. With an alcohol content of 14.5 % vol., a natural cork closure and a ageing potential extending well beyond 2040, the Tignanello 2022 ranks among Italy’s most sought-after top wines.
