The Salzl Cabernet Franc Premium 2020 is a majestic red wine from the Seewinkel region of Burgenland and is undoubtedly one of Austria’s great character wines. Made from 100 % Cabernet Franc, this premium wine displays a perfect balance between power, elegance and expression of the terroir. The vines thrive on paratschernosem soils, consisting of loamy sand with a high proportion of gravel – a soil structure that ensures optimal drainage and deep root growth, and lends the wine its distinctive minerality.

Vinification follows traditional methods: an 18-day maceration period, alcoholic fermentation in steel tanks at 30°C, followed by malolactic fermentation. The subsequent 24-month ageing in small oak barrels – made from 100 % new wood – imparts depth, density and refined, mature aromas to the wine. With 14 % ABV, an opulent structure and, at the same time, refined elegance, this Cabernet Franc possesses enormous potential – ready to drink from 2024, with ageing potential until at least 2040 if stored optimally.
