Description
La Gauloise Liqueur Bicentenaire Jaune is a traditional French herbal liqueur with a history stretching back over 200 years, produced by the Distillerie du Centre in Limoges, France. This yellow variant is based on an original recipe dating from 1783, which is composed of over 30 carefully selected herbs, roots and spices. The recipe can be traced back to the apothecary Édouard Requier, who used an alchemical herbarium – a so-called ‘grimoire’ – as the basis for this complex composition. To this day, the liqueur is macerated, distilled and crafted using traditional methods.
With an alcohol content of 40 % vol., La Gauloise Jaune is smoother and sweeter than the green variant ‘Verte’, whilst remaining fully aromatic and complex. Its natural colour, intensely herbal character and slightly honeyed sweetness make this liqueur a classic of French spirits craftsmanship. Over the generations, La Gauloise has won numerous awards – including the gold medal at the 1889 World’s Fair and the medal of honour in 1900.
