The Oban 12 Years Old Heart of the Harbour is a limited-edition special release from the 2025 Special Releases, launched under the theme ‘Horizons Unbound’. Bottled by Diageo, it impressively showcases the maritime character of the Oban distillery, which is situated right on the border between the Scottish Highlands and the islands. Matured for 12 years in ex-bourbon casks made from American oak, this whisky presents the distillery’s signature style in a particularly inviting, fruity and spicy form.


Its character remains true to Oban’s fresh and fruity nature, yet gains additional depth through sweet fruits, spicy accents and maritime notes. On the palate, multifaceted flavours of toffee, sea salt and citrus unfold, blending harmoniously to reflect the distillery’s coastal location. Bottled at cask strength at 54.7% ABV, this whisky impresses with its intensity, elegance and a warming depth that will particularly appeal to lovers of bolder expressions. Packaged in a simple, elegant tube with a minimalist label, the focus is deliberately placed on the whisky itself – a stark contrast to the often colourful designs of other editions.
