The Hillinger Small Hill Red 2022 is a wonderfully balanced and smooth red wine cuvée from Burgenland, which impressively bears the hallmark of the renowned Austrian winemaker Leo Hillinger. This carefully crafted blend consists of 50 per cent Merlot, 25 per cent Pinot Noir and 25 per cent St. Laurent – three grape varieties that complement each other in perfect harmony, lending the wine elegance, structure and depth.


The grapes come from the finest Lager around Jois in northern Burgenland, where the Pannonian climate, with its warm days and cool nights, provides ideal ripening conditions. Following fermentation in stainless steel tanks, a small proportion (around 10 per cent) is aged in used barrique barrels to lend the wine additional roundness and subtle toasted aromas. The result is a dry, velvety red wine with youthful fruit, soft tannins and a harmonious balance.
