The Salzl Blaufränkisch 2023 is a characterful, elegant red wine from Burgenland that perfectly embodies the signature style of the Salzl Seewinkelhof winery. It is vinified as a single-varietal wine from 100 per cent Blaufränkisch – the grape variety regarded as the flagship of Austrian red wine. The grapes thrive on loess-like chernozem soils consisting of sandy loam with a high proportion of gravel, which ensures optimal drainage and mineral depth. This terroir in the Seewinkel region produces wines that are at once powerful, precise and elegant.


Vinification follows the classic method: traditional fermentation on the skins in stainless steel tanks at 30 °C with a maceration period of 14 days, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged in stainless steel tanks to preserve its freshness and fruitiness. The result is an Austrian quality wine that showcases the unmistakable fruit and spice of Blaufränkisch in its purest, unadulterated form.
