The Dellavalle Grappa in Barrique da Picolit 2007 is an elegantly matured speciality from the Distilleria Roberto Dellavalle in Vigliano d’Asti, Piedmont. For this exclusive vintage edition, selected pomace is distilled using traditional methods in small copper stills to preserve the delicate, variety-typical aromas intact. The grappa is then matured in a Picolit barrique – a cask that previously contained the precious southern Italian dessert wine Picolit. This ageing process imparts a delicate sweetness, warm fruity notes and elegant woody aromas, resulting from the long period of cask maturation. The bottling at 42 per cent by volume, together with its presentation in a high-quality wooden box, emphasises the special character of this limited-edition vintage grappa.


Through its maturation in a Picolit cask, the grappa develops a multi-layered structure in which ripe yellow fruits, delicate hints of honey and the natural, distinct distilling signature of the Dellavalle house blend harmoniously together. The combination of the Piedmontese distilling tradition and the aromatic depth of Picolit wine lends this grappa an exceptionally smooth, rounded and warm style. This edition is therefore one of the house’s finest barrel-aged grappas and is aimed at connoisseurs of complex, elegantly matured grappas.
