Description
The Dellavalle Grappa Affinata in botti da MALVASIA 2007 is a premium grappa from Piedmont, produced from 100 per cent Barbera pomace sourced from selected vineyards in the Monferrato region. Distillation is carried out using the traditional batch method in small stills in a water bath, in order to bring out the characteristic properties of the pomace as precisely as possible. The long period of cask ageing plays a significant role in giving this bottling its distinctive profile. The grappa is first aged for 6 years in a 30-hl cask made of Allier oak. This is followed by a further two years of ageing in used Malvasia barriques, which previously contained the typically aromatic Italian wine.
Thanks to a total of eight years’ cask ageing, the Dellavalle Grappa Malvasia 2007 combines the powerful structure of the Barbera pomace with the influences of Allier oak and Malvasia casks. The result is a mature grappa with a distinct personality and a warm, herbaceous character. At 42 per cent, this vintage bottling is presented in a 0.7-litre bottle and comes in a high-quality wooden case. The combination of the 2007 vintage, Barbera pomace from Monferrato, traditional water-bath distillation, six years’ ageing in Allier oak and two years’ finishing in Malvasia barriques makes this Dellavalle bottling a special choice for connoisseurs of long-aged Italian grappas.
