The Kerschbaum Blaufränkisch Ried Dürrau 2023 comes from the renowned single vineyard of Dürrau, the finest vineyard in Horitschon and one of the flagship vineyards of the Middle Burgenland region. This provenance lends the wine its exceptional depth and structure, as the grapes are sourced exclusively from this single vineyard, thereby allowing for a precise expression of the terroir. The vinification process involves a 21-day, temperature-controlled maceration, which imparts intense body and clear structural elements to the wine. Malolactic fermentation took place exclusively in wooden barrels, followed by 15 months’ ageing in various wooden casks, harmoniously blending elegance and depth. The 2023 vintage is a powerful yet precisely crafted Blaufränkisch that reflects the Dürrau vineyard with impressive clarity. The wine is dry and unfolds its full potential at a serving temperature of 16 °C; it is recommended that it be decanted for 2 hours.

The combination of terroir character, intensive maceration and extended ageing in oak results in a Blaufränkisch with pronounced ageing potential and a clear structure.
