The Salzl Cuvée Classic Red 2023 is an expressive, versatile red wine from Burgenland that skilfully combines drinking pleasure, structure and terroir. The Salzl Seewinkelhof winery is renowned for precisely vinified wines with a distinct style, and this cuvée is regarded as a classic expression of the estate. The blend of Zweigelt, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon combines fruit-driven character, spice and depth to create a harmonious whole. The vines grow on brown earth soils consisting of sandy loam with a high proportion of gravel, which lends the wine a juicy structure and a subtle mineral edge. With an alcohol content of 14 per cent, the 2023 vintage is powerful, balanced and, at the same time, elegant.


Vinification involves traditional maceration in steel tanks at 30 °C, with a maceration period of 14 days, followed by malolactic fermentation, which deliberately builds density and balance. Ageing takes place predominantly in steel tanks, supplemented by a portion in small, quarter-filled oak barrels, which imparts structure and depth without overpowering the fruit. The recommended drinking window is from 2025 to 2032, provided it is stored under optimal conditions. Served at a temperature of 16 to 18 °C, this Salzl Cuvée Classic Red is particularly well-balanced and invigorating.
