The Pfneisl V Viognier is an exceptional Austrian white wine reserve that impressively demonstrates the potential that the Viognier grape variety can realise in Central Burgenland. Produced by the renowned Pfneisl winery, this wine was first crafted in a style typical of the Rhône region to mark the 20th anniversary of the Viognier vineyard, whilst at the same time being developed into a wine with its own distinct character. The bottling is strictly limited to around 2,000 litres, which further emphasises the exclusive character of this white reserve.


The Pfneisl V Viognier is vinified as a dry wine and fermented in 500-litre oak barrels, using a blend of 50 per cent new and 50 per cent one-year-old barrels. Malolactic fermentation and twelve months’ ageing on the fine lees lend the wine depth, creaminess and structure. With an alcohol content of 13.5 per cent, this white wine is powerful, yet elegant and well-balanced. The subtle sweetness of the extracts, the mineral and salty tension, and the precise integration of the oak make this Austrian Viognier a sophisticated yet extremely harmonious accompaniment to food. Bottled with a Diam cork, this reserve embodies maturity, elegance and long-lasting enjoyment.
