Stauning SMOKE Floor Malted Smoked Barley Danish Single Malt Whisky 47% vol. 0.7 l is a characterful Danish single malt whisky from the renowned Stauning Distillery, which is situated on Denmark’s windswept west coast near the Ringkøbing Fjord. The distillery is synonymous with modern craft whisky from Denmark, with a focus on local raw materials, traditional craftsmanship and a strong sense of terroir. This Stauning SMOKE Danish Single Malt Whisky is made exclusively from 100% locally grown Danish barley, which is traditionally malted on malting floors directly at the distillery. The malt is then kilned over local peat and dried heather from the Stauning region. This combination creates a particularly mild, aromatic smokiness that is more reminiscent of campfire smoke than of medicinal-style peat smoke.
Following malting, the whisky undergoes double distillation in 24 small, directly-fired copper pot stills, resulting in a particularly aromatic and complex whisky. The Stauning SMOKE Floor Malted Smoked Barley Danish Single Malt Whisky is then matured for around 5 to 6 years in a combination of first-fill bourbon casks, Madeira casks, Jamaican rum casks and heavily charred new American oak casks. This variety of casks lends the whisky additional depth and an elegant balance of smoke, fruit and sweetness. This award-winning expression is bottled at 47% ABV, unfiltered and unchill-filtered, ensuring that its structure and aromatic richness are fully preserved. Stauning SMOKE Danish Single Malt Whisky is regarded as one of the distillery’s signature whiskies and impressively reflects the landscape and raw materials of the Danish North Sea coast.
