Description
The Erwin Sabathi Pinot Gris Ried Jägerberg South Styria DAC 2024 13% vol. 0.75 l is an elegant and expressive Pinot Gris from the Südsteiermark DAC, which clearly reflects the character of the renowned Ried Jägerberg vineyard. The Weingut Erwin Sabathi winery is one of the region’s leading estates and is renowned for its precisely vinified Styrian Burgundy wines with distinctive terroir character. As a South Styria DAC single-vineyard wine, this Pinot Gris from Austria combines power, structure and mineral elegance.
The vines grow on marine sedimentary soils of the Neogene period, known as the ‘Gamlitzer Schlier’, which consists of fine-grained sandy clay marl with crystalline and carbonate gravels. These soils lend the wine its characteristic minerality and vibrancy. The grapes come from steep vineyards and are harvested by hand. Fermentation takes place with natural yeasts, after which the wine matures for 15 months in large oak barrels. With an alcohol content of 13% vol., this South Styria DAC Pinot Gris is structured, complex and long-lived. It will be bottled in December 2025 and has a ageing potential of 10 years or more.
