The Hillinger Hill Side Red 2018, 13% ABV, 6 litres, is an expressive red wine blend from Burgenland, which combines the characteristic interplay of several grape varieties to create a powerful yet elegant Austrian red wine. Produced by the renowned Leo Hillinger winery, this red cuvée combines the spice of Syrah, the fruity structure of Zweigelt and the power of Merlot to create a harmonious blend. The blend consists of 60% Syrah, 30% Zweigelt and 10% Merlot, resulting in a multi-layered Burgenland red wine with an international character.


Vinification involves maceration in stainless steel tanks, followed by 18 months’ ageing in barriques, with approximately one-third aged in new oak barrels and two-thirds in used ones. This is followed by six months’ bottle ageing, which lends the wine additional harmony and structure. With an alcohol content of 13% vol., this Austrian red cuvée is powerful yet balanced. The impressive 6-litre Methuselah bottle makes this Hillinger red wine a real eye-catcher at festive occasions or in discerning wine collections. The wine is ready to drink now and has an ageing potential of around 6 to 8 years.
