The Netzl Zweigelt Rubin Carnuntum DAC 2023, 13.5% vol., 0.75 l, is a characterful Austrian red wine from Carnuntum that impressively reflects the typical characteristics of the regional Rubin Carnuntum designation. This designation stands for high-quality Zweigelt red wines, which are vinified from the indigenous Zweigelt grape variety and must pass a rigorous quality assessment by an independent tasting panel. The Netzl Winery is one of the region’s most renowned estates and is renowned for authentic, terroir-driven DAC wines from Austria.


The vines grow on slightly gravelly loess soils, which lend the wine structure and subtle minerality. The mesoclimate of the Carnuntum region also benefits from the influence of Lake Neusiedl and the nearby Danube. This combination of climatic conditions ensures optimal ripening of the grapes whilst preserving lively acidity and fresh fruit. The selective hand-harvest took place on 21 September 2023, followed by careful whole-bunch and single-berry selection in the cellar. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a maximum temperature of 28 °C, accompanied by regular pumping over of the cap to ensure optimal extraction of colour, aromas and tannins. Following a maceration period of around two weeks, malolactic fermentation takes place in used barriques. The wine is then aged for approximately 12 months in used French barrique barrels before being bottled in the summer of 2025.
