Ruavieja Licor de Hierbas is a traditional Spanish herbal liqueur from Galicia, whose character is based on selected natural herbs and aguardiente de orujo made from grape marc. To produce it, the herbs are carefully selected and then macerated in the aguardiente, allowing their aromatic compounds to infuse the spirit. The history of Ruavieja dates back to 1889, when the Rodríguez Ovalle family of winegrowers in Santiago de Compostela began producing high-quality liqueurs and aguardientes from selected Galician grape marc. The Licor de Hierbas itself was launched in 1969 and is now one of the brand’s classic specialities.

At 30% ABV in the 0.7-litre bottle, Ruavieja herbal liqueur combines a pleasantly sweet base with fresh and balsamic herbal notes. According to the manufacturer, mint, menthol and camomile form the characteristic aromatic components. In addition to water, alcohol and sugar, the ingredients also include aguardiente de orujo, aromatic plants and natural mint flavouring. The intense yellow colour with greenish hues visually emphasises its herbal character. Thanks to its traditional maceration process and Galician origins, Ruavieja Licor de Hierbas is particularly suited to lovers of classic Spanish herbal liqueurs and Orujo specialities.
