Description
The Andrea Da Ponte Vecchia Grappa di Prosecco 8 Annate is a traditional grappa from Veneto, produced using the house’s own Metodo Da Ponte. The raw material consists of carefully selected pomace from the Glera grape, which is used to produce Prosecco Superiore D.O.C.G. In this way, the Andrea Da Ponte distillery highlights the close link between the regional Prosecco tradition and classic Italian grappa production. After distillation, the grappa is given sufficient time to develop its characteristic profile. The designation ‘8 Annate’ refers to the long ageing process, which clearly distinguishes the distillate from young, unaged grappas and allows it to develop additional depth and a more harmonious character.
The Vecchia Grappa di Prosecco is aged in selected Limousin oak casks from France, which are also responsible for its characteristic golden-yellow colour. The interplay of Glera pomace, the Metodo Da Ponte and Limousin oak lends this 42 per cent bottling its distinctive style. The Andrea Da Ponte distillery has a long history of distillation and counts the Vecchia Grappa di Prosecco amongst its most traditional products. At 42 per cent in a 0.7-litre bottle, this matured grappa is aimed particularly at connoisseurs of Italian pomace spirits who are seeking a combination of regionally typical raw materials, traditional distillation and pronounced oak barrel ageing.
