The Planteray Rum FIJI 2019 Coffee Liqueur Cask Finish is an exceptional single cask bottling from Fiji, produced from molasses by the Rum Co. of Fiji. Fermentation takes four to five days before distillation takes place in a column still. The distillate is from the 2019 vintage and subsequently undergoes the multi-stage maturation process characteristic of Planteray. First, the rum is aged for four years in bourbon casks under tropical conditions. This is followed by continental Lager in France, where it spends a further five months in Ferrand casks. This combination of tropical and continental Lager forms the basis for the complex character of this limited-edition bottling.


The Planteray Fiji 2019 Single Cask derives its distinctive character from an additional seven months’ maturation in a coffee liqueur cask. This unusual finish adds distinctive notes of coffee, cocoa and roasted flavours to the Fijian rum, without overshadowing its tropical origins. The producer classifies this release as part of the Single Casks Premium 2024 Collection. At 45.4 per cent, the rum is available in a 0.7-litre bottle and is aimed particularly at enthusiasts of experimental cask maturations and limited-edition Planteray Single Cask rums. The combination of the 2019 vintage, four years’ maturation in bourbon casks, Ferrand casks and a coffee liqueur cask finish makes this edition an unusual interpretation of a matured Fijian rum.
