Description
The Faustino I Gran Reserva 2017 14 % is a classic Spanish red wine from the D.O.Ca. Rioja and is one of the best-known wines produced by the long-established Bodegas Faustino. This Rioja Gran Reserva is a blend of the grape varieties characteristic of the region: Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo. The grapes come from the winery’s own vineyards in the Rioja Alavesa, where calcareous and loamy soils, combined with the interplay of Atlantic and Mediterranean climatic influences, create ideal conditions for structured, long-lived red wines. Following vinification, the wine undergoes the extended ageing period characteristic of a Gran Reserva. It is aged for a long period in oak barrels, before further bottle ageing rounds off its development and allows the wine time to harmoniously unfold its structure.
With an alcohol content of 14% in the 0.75 l bottle, the Faustino I Gran Reserva Rioja 2017 combines traditional Rioja winemaking with outstanding ageing potential. The ‘Gran Reserva’ designation denotes the highest classic ageing category within the Rioja region and stands for wines that are only released onto the market after a particularly long period of barrel and bottle ageing. The 2017 vintage is therefore particularly well-suited to lovers of mature, classically style Spanish red wines. At the same time, thanks to its blend of Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo, long ageing and clear Rioja provenance, the Faustino I is a versatile accompaniment to full-bodied dishes. The striking bottle with its distinctive portrait label further emphasises the high recognition value of this traditional wine range.
