The Frescobaldi Tenuta Perano Chianti Classico DOCG 2023 14% is a characterful red wine from Tuscany, produced at Tenuta Perano in the heart of the Chianti Classico region. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of around 500 metres above sea level and benefit from their south-south-west exposure and their natural, amphitheatre-shaped layout, which allows for optimal absorption of sunlight and warmth. For the 2023 vintage, Frescobaldi relies on Sangiovese and complementary grape varieties. The grapes are harvested by hand and then fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. During maceration, careful pumping over ensures a controlled extraction of polyphenols, thereby creating the characteristic structure of this Chianti Classico DOCG.

Following vinification, the Tenuta Perano 2023 matures for a total of 12 months in barriques and stainless-steel tanks, with the partial ageing in wood lending additional complexity. This is followed by a further ageing period in the bottle before the wine is released onto the market. The 2023 vintage in the high-altitude vineyards was characterised by a cool, wet winter, a mild spring and a warm, though not excessively hot, summer. Good night-time ventilation in the vineyards supported the even ripening of the grapes. With an alcohol content of 14 per cent in the 0.75-litre bottle, this Frescobaldi Chianti Classico 2023 combines traditional Sangiovese character with the distinctive high altitude of Tenuta Perano, making it ideal for both sophisticated meals and special occasions.
