Pastis 12/12 Recette Originale Conçue à Saint-Tropez is a premium French pastis, the recipe for which was inspired by the traditional pastis blends of the Saint-Tropez peninsula. It is based on neutral spirit, star anise and liquorice, complemented by selected botanicals and spices. The star anise is first distilled in column stills, followed by several macerations carried out in a specific sequence. A subtle hint of almond rounds off the composition. Pastis 12/12 is produced at Cristal Limiñana, a family-run distillery founded in 1884 and the oldest distillery still in operation in Marseille. The recipe also draws on Saint-Tropez’s historical connection to the Italian community, whose addition of Amaretto to homemade pastis later served as the inspiration for the well-known Mauresque.

The name 12/12 is also closely linked to the southern French way of life: in pétanque, a game is usually played to 13 points, which is why a score of 12–12 for both teams corresponds to match point. This theme is continued in the unusual bottle design, whose stopper is modelled on a pétanque cochonnet and can even be removed for a game. The illustrations are by Saint-Tropez-based artist Quentin Monge and combine a retro aesthetic with motifs from the Côte d’Azur. With an alcohol content of 45 per cent and a volume of 0.7 litres, this pastis from Provence embodies a blend of regional tradition, artisanal production and contemporary design.
