Description
The Edradour 18 Years Old DFR Amarone Cask is an exceptional Highland single malt Scotch whisky that combines the Edradour Distillery’s bold, fruit-forward character with the influence of Italian red wine casks. The whisky was distilled in 2007 and, after 18 years of maturation, was bottled in 2026 as a small-batch release with an alcohol content of 46 per cent. First-fill Amarone hogsheads, sourced from Dal Forno Romano in the Valpolicella region of northern Italy, were used for the maturation. Hence, the designation DFR stands for Dal Forno Romano. The intense character of the famous Amarone wine complements the robust Edradour distillate, particularly with dark fruit, spice and pronounced tannins.
The historic Edradour Distillery in the Scottish Highlands uses small stills, wooden washbacks and traditional worm tubs, producing a robust distillate that is particularly well-suited to intensive cask maturation. The Edradour 18 Years Amarone Cask is bottled as a small batch and is free from chill filtration and artificial colourings, thereby preserving the natural character of the long cask maturation. The combination of the 2007 vintage, 18 years’ maturation and first-fill Amarone hogsheads from Dal Forno Romano makes this bottling a special choice for connoisseurs of long-matured Highland whiskies with a pronounced wine-cask influence. The 0.7-litre bottle is presented in a matching gift box.
