Cardenal Mendoza Carta Real Brandy de Jerez is a premium brandy that has been aged for an exceptionally long time, produced by the long-established Sánchez Romate house in Jerez de la Frontera. Its history began in 1981, when, to mark the bodega’s 200th anniversary, selected stocks of Cardenal Mendoza were set aside for a dedicated Solera. This gave rise to a Brandy de Jerez Solera Gran Reserva with an impressive average age of over 25 years. Ageing takes place using the traditional criaderas and Solera method in carefully selected wooden casks that previously contained old Oloroso sherry. A subtle influence of Pedro Ximénez complements the cask character and contributes to the brandy’s distinctive depth.

The Sánchez Romate winery was founded as early as 1781 and is one of Jerez’s most traditional producers. The name ‘Carta Real’ commemorates a historic dinner held at the Royal Palace in Madrid in 1900, at which products from Sánchez Romate were served. With an alcohol content of 40 per cent, the Cardenal Mendoza Carta Real combines its exceptionally long Solera ageing with the characteristic influence of old sherry casks. The elaborately designed and individually numbered bottle further emphasises the premium status of this bottling. This makes this Brandy de Jerez from Spain, aged for over 25 years, particularly suitable for connoisseurs of long-aged brandies and high-quality Solera Gran Reserva specialities.
