Description
The Bruichladdich 19 Years Old Black Art Propheta is a strictly limited-edition Islay single malt Scotch whisky and forms Chapter 2 of the mysterious Black Art special series, with ‘Propheta’ as the 2026 edition. This 19-year-old single malt was distilled, matured and bottled entirely at the Bruichladdich Distillery on Islay. Unlike many Bruichladdich bottlings, where transparency regarding barley, provenance and cask maturation plays a central role, the exact cask composition of Black Art Propheta is deliberately kept secret. It is precisely this departure from the usual transparency that forms part of the Black Art concept, leaving the interpretation of the exceptional cask composition to the whisky itself. Propheta is an unpeated Islay single malt, bottled at 48.4% ABV.
Head Distiller Adam Hannett is responsible for the creation, blending selected matured stocks for the Black Art range into a unique composition in each case. The specific cask types used for Black Art Propheta are deliberately not disclosed and should therefore not be inferred from its flavour profile. What is certain, however, is that the whisky is bottled without chill filtration and without colouring. The combination of 19 years’ maturation, a strictly confidential cask selection and limited availability makes Propheta a particularly distinctive Bruichladdich bottling. The 0.7-litre bottle is presented in an elaborately designed tin box and is aimed particularly at collectors of the Black Art series as well as connoisseurs of long-matured, unpeated Islay whiskies.
